Engines skip steps

When the motors skip steps, this can be caused by the following causes. The sound you hear at that moment is not the gears that are hitting the rack. The motors are getting pulses. When the motor has too much resistance, it does get these pulses but it cannot make a revolution. That is the chattering sound you hear.

  1. The THC controller is not set correctly. If it is not set correctly, it may adjust the torch downwards. This causes the torch to press on the workpiece and act as an anchor. The motors get too much resistance and do not pull it.
  2. The rails need to be lubricated and cleaned. When the bearing blocks do not move smoothly on the rails, this also creates too much resistance for the motors.
  3. Check that the gear has not come loose on the engine  ash.
