At De Nieuwe Veste in Coevorden, we already had a laser cutting machine in our classroom suitable for cutting thin sheet material. To process thicker material, we also wanted a CNC plasma cutting machine.
This machine is nice and compact and fits within our budget.
Then we saw the Pritec Acros 150S plasma cutting machine appear on the internet. This machine is nice and compact and fits within our budget. We can work with the programs we already have for the students, namely SolidWorks and Fusion360.
For the PIE program, we have a small mechatronics project. For this, we are converting an electric mobility scooter into an electric go-kart. The students weld a frame together themselves and mount the electrical components of the mobility scooter onto it.
We use the Pritec machine to cut out the parts for this project, among others. In this way, the students learn to work with CAD/CAM and CNC-controlled machines.
