Determine the PROBE switch clearance
The switch in the z-axis is used to determine the plate height, this has a slight play (free stroke). This play varies per machine and must be determined for correct setting of the cutting height.
This play will need to be accounted for in the cutting height settings.
How do you determine the clearance in the Probe switch?
You do this by placing the z-axis just above the workpiece. To do this precisely, you can use an A4 piece of paper. You place this between the workpiece and the torch nozzle and move it back and forth. At the same time, you lower the torch. At the moment that moving the A4 piece of paper becomes difficult, that will be the point at which the torch touches the workpiece. This is the zero point.
Set the z-axis to zero at the working coordinates by pressing Z ZERO to click. Then you let the INCR MODE the z-axis down 0.10 mm. Until the LED light of the PROBE ACTIVE starts to light up. The value of the z-axis location at that time is the Probe switch clearance.
