Motors skip steps
When the motors skip steps, this can be due to the causes listed below. The sound you hear at that moment is not the gears skipping over the rack. The motors are receiving pulses. When the motor encounters too much resistance, it does receive these pulses but cannot make a rotation. That is the rattling sound you hear.
- The THC controller is not set correctly. If it is not set correctly, it may regulate the torch downwards. As a result, the torch presses down on the workpiece and acts like an armature. The motors encounter too much resistance and cannot handle the load.
- The rails must be lubricated and cleaned. If the bearing blocks do not move smoothly over the rails, this also generates too much resistance for the motors.
- Check if the gear has not come loose on the motor shaft.
